Anatomy of a bar code: The statue of Liberty Revised

For this piece I wanted to engage in the exercise of redesigning a prominent American monument.
I chose to revisit the statue of liberty, not because there is anything wrong with the current version, it is our beloved iconic symbol of Liberty, But I believe it is a healthy exercise for a democracy to revisit its symbols and ask, are there values in our current culture that are not represented in our current symbols? How can a monument capture the American culture of now?
The relationship between monuments, culture and public space, should be an ever-evolving unsettled topic.
